Adding sound to your #osho experience

The two most popular Windows IRC programs seem to be mIRC and pIRCh. I'm not immediately familiar for the non-Win machine clients, like Macs, UNIX, OS/2, etc. So anyone out there with expertise in these areas, please write me.

On this site I have placed a O-SOUND1.ZIP (sorry no longer available) - a 802K zip file with several Osho WAV files and a text file with pop-up scripts for both mIRC and pIRCh. The instructions which follow are also on the text file included with the zipped sound files.

mIRC

1. Unzip the sound files from O-SOUND1.ZIP into whatever directory you are using for sound files. I like to create a new folder within c:\mirc which I call "sounds." If you don't want to bother with using a separate directory, you can use the c:\mirc directory as the default.

2. Go into the File, Options, Sound tab (or go via the options button on the mIRC toolbar) and make sure "Accept sound requests" is enabled. You can also set where you keep your WAV and MIDI files from this panel.

3. Go to the tools, pop-up menu (or button) and go into the section for channel pop-ups. Paste the following text right into that area:

4. Once the text is pasted in, click the OK button and exit the panel.

5. Next time you are in a channel on IRC (it doesn't have to be the #osho channel), you should be able to right-click and bring up a menu with Sounds on it, under which is an Osho sub-menu--which contains the descriptions of the WAV files. Click on a sound and you should be able to hear it yourself--as well as trriggering the same sound to others in the channel who have it.

pIRCh

1. Unzip the sound files from O-SOUND1.ZIP into whatever directory you are using for sound files. I like to create a new folder within c:\pirch32 which I call "sounds," making the full path: c:\pirch32\sounds. (those of you with the 16 bit version probably have "c:\pirch" as the program directory.) As with mIRC, you can use the program's default directory if you don't want to bother with creating a new one.

2. Go into the Options, Preferences panel and select the Media tab. Make sure that the Enable Sounds box is checked. (You can also tell Pirch where to look for your sound and other media files on this panel.)

3. Go to the Tools, Popups menu (or use the Popups button on the Pirch toolbar) and select the Channel (Main Panel) pane/tab, and paste the following text into the window below:

4. Click the Save button at the bottom of the Popups panel when done.

5. From now on when you are in a channel, you should have a menu option "Sounds" when you right-click in the channel window. Under it will be an "Osho" sub-menu where you can access all these sounds. Click on a sound and you should be able to hear it yourself--as well as triggering the same sound to others in the channel who have it.
